We all need our dose of social escapism. Clubbing, partying, road trips. Anything to feel alive. When I’m not listening to Lo-fi or Rainy Night Coffee Shop Ambience, I like to tune in with more up-to-beat music.

Based on my self-discoveries, I will be listing the Top 8 Songs that I think should go on your party/dance mix. This is out with the old, in with the new (ranging from 2019 to 2022, in no particular order). I will leave the rest, such as classics or personal preferences, up to you!

1. Cure For Me — Aurora

While the bewitching Aurora is known for her delicate indie pieces, she also makes energetic pop tunes. Her recent unapologetic electronic song serves as a heartbreak and dance song.

2. Keep Moving — Jungle

Recognizable from the Peloton Ad, Keep Moving is that song that everyone knows from last year. Simple and positive, it serves to light up the mood. There are other Jungle lesser-known songs that you can also add to your playlist if you are not going for trivial.

Keep moving, keep moving 🌠

3. Liquid Love — Mr Jukes Remix

Despite being a relatively recent mix from 2021, this song takes me back to a time I didn’t even know existed. Billie Marten’s Liquid Love is a soft and chill song. While Mr Jukes’s take is an electronic fast phased mix with drum and bass elements.

4. NICE OUT — Kilo Kish

With a dark and catchy Synth, 2022’s Nice Out is the type of badass song designed to make anyone sing and dance along. It is also good to play along if you are doing house chores!

I love her makeup in this video 💄🌃

5. Nightsiren — Melt Yourself Down

With how the combo of trumpets and drums plays out, there is a hint of Latin-music influence in this one. Nightsiren is dark and vibrant at the same time. A good choice to diversify the mood.

🎺🥁

6. On The Luna — Metronomy Remix

This remix sounds nothing like Metronomy or Foals, but it is one of the best things to come out of the two of them in 2019. This is the kind of music you expect in an action movie.

🌗

7. Spirals — MGMT Remix

Bring an energy boost to any of your playlists with the unapologetic 80’s vibes of this remix song from 2020. MGMT is already a good start for any party, but think Tears of Fears’ vibes with a club feel to it. That’s what the remix of this Django Django is.

80’s vibes 🎹

8. Stay Soft — Mitski

Mitski is that bit of rock that any gathering needs. Her song, Stay Soft, is indeed soft yet subtly edgy. It is a very feminine song and, if you are a Mitski fan, you probably already know that her lyrics are more of the dark and sad kind. Stay Soft is one of her mildest songs, but the lyrics reveal in themselves a dark undertone. Nothing depressing, just the right amount of subtle emotion for a social night.

Dedication Note

Roscoe was put up for adoption by his owner. Due to his other cat being unwell and not getting along with him.

Although he was never my cat, he was a friend. I came up with the idea for this blog while looking after him.

Unfortunately, my partner is extremely allergic to him, and we don’t live in a flat suited for pets. Because of this, we can’t take him in.

As sad as I am that I might not see him again, I wish him the best in all of his endeavours.

Sphynx Cat
Thank you for all your company, Roscoe 💖 I hope we meet again.
